Advancement Office Associate
Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic
Duties and Responsibilities: Working under the supervision of the Vice President of Advancement, this position performs multiple support and fundraising duties in collaboration with Executive Management Team members, staff and others on various projects and community relations activities as part of the Clinic's administrative team, including:

Completing grant writing project tasks such as researching, writing and obtaining approval to submit government, corporate and foundation grant proposals and overseeing production and dissemination of public information materials, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports and e-news updates; preparing, writing and distributing news/press releases, feature stories or columns; assisting with other advancement-related writing projects, e.g. brochures, fundraising letters, annual reports, and newsletters; and public service announcements in print and electronic media regarding specific Clinic events and activities; developing application support documents and funding compliance reports; maintaining databases of research efforts and proposal tracking systems; and researching specific program information and community statistics, e.g. area demographics and mental health related statistics.

Representing the Clinic at community meetings and events, ensuring that the Clinic’s needs and interests are addressed appropriately; managing donor and community contact databases, including regular gift processing in conjunction with the Accounting Department, tracking and sending donor and gift acknowledgements, updating records (contacting donors as necessary), generating and reconciling financial reports and creating customized mail merges for various projects; coordinating special events (including establishing timelines to track and execute all related tasks), recruiting and training in-house and external volunteers, negotiating with vendors, developing and overseeing production of event-related printed materials, e.g. invitations and event programs; and performing various administrative tasks, including processing purchase orders, replenishing and organizing office and publicity supplies, scheduling meetings, etc. Other duties will be assigned.

Qualifications: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university; excellent writing and editing skills; strong organizational, analytical and time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks under deadline, without losing attention to detail; and experience working as part of a team, while also demonstrating initiative and ability to work independently. Experience with non-profit grant writing a plus or least two years of professional experience in a fundraising environment, preferred.

This position requires a high level of initiative and skill in both written and verbal communication due to the significant contact with various Clinic stakeholders (staff, board members, and officials, funders, media, volunteers, and others, e.g. graphic designers, printers, mailings house, etc.) and requires a professional demeanor and appearance, the ability to think independently and generate ideas, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate and function effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds. Must have strong organizational and computer skills, familiarity with donor database software (proficiency with Donor Perfect preferred) and Publisher software; experience coordinating specials events and developing marketing and community relations materials; the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects under deadline, without losing productivity or attention to detail; and experience working as part of a team, while also demonstrating initiative and ability to work independently. The successful candidate will demonstrate solid interpersonal communications skills and comfort dealing directly with donors, media, representatives of elected officials, staff, board members, volunteers and other Clinic stakeholders.
